In Bestefar, I aimed to capture a unique journey across generations, infused with history, identity, and a family's quest for answers. What drew me to this documentary was the chance to uncover a story that is both deeply personal and universally relatable—a story of immigration, love, and the lasting scars of war.
As a director, my passion lies in seeking out fresh perspectives, and each project is an opportunity to connect with incredible people and explore places I might never otherwise experience. My work is inspired by the idea that every day brings something new and meaningful.
This film allowed me to dive into a narrative rich with emotion and discovery, inviting audiences to journey alongside Karen as she uncovers the pieces of her family's past. With over 20 years in storytelling, I approached Bestefar with the same energy and passion I bring to all my projects, making each moment unique and unrepeatable, much like the singular histories we each carry.
